Tried this for the first time tonight, and it was phenomenal - from the drinks, to the first course, entrees, desserts - everything! I almost shed a tear with how amazing the food was. Olamaie also provides a decent portion size to their entrees, unlike a lot of other “high-end” or “fancy” restaurants. Everyone was incredibly friendly and very attentive to us, and I truly believe the experience at Olamaie was worth every penny. Kudos to them, and I think that Michelin star was well deserved!!

Everything was meeting our expectations. The atmosphere of the restaurant is kinda classy and elegant. The waiter was very nice and helpful. Made excellent food recommendations and we basically ordered everything he recommended. All the dishes were very layered and throughout out, from the aesthetics to the flavor palettes, texture. We had lamb tartar and the cauliflower as first courses. Both way above our expectations. For entrees we had the fried catfish and the rabbit. The fried fish was so delicious and spicy. We loved it. Though both entrees were just a tit too salty for me but we still enjoyed them. The portions are quite generous for a fine dining experience. Cocktails were easily the highlight for me for the night. We got the Delta Dawn - a tequila drink, and the Shady dancing - a manhattan - were both so aromatic and sophisticated. Would definitely go back again and try some more traditional southern dishes next time

Been wanting to check this place out for years and it did not disappoint! The pre fixed menu was great and had a ton of options to choose from! My favorite dish was the beef tartare with grilled okra. Service was top notch and cocktails were delightful! 10/10 would recommend!

Worth the Michelin star. The beef belly starter was an absolute delight; soft, succulent and juicy. It’s a must have. The Etouffee was really well seasoned and portion size was huge. The Rabbit dish had a well-balanced, mild and creamy flavor which was delicious. Service was great. Place was packed but it was a bit loud tbh.

Incredibly delicious. Last year when I visited Austin, Olamaie was closed for the week for staff break. This year I told my friends I’d cry if we don’t go to Olamaie. It exceeded my high expectations. This kitchen team has such refined palates! Virtually everything tasted bold and impactful without being overwhelming. Most dishes were rich, high in fat, and probably used more butter than I’d like to know, but never cloying due to the balanced acidity. The restaurant lives and breathes “salt, fat, acid, heat”. Everyone was raving about the smoked cabbage and the tangy sauce that came with it. The fried catfish was a crowd favorite. We could’ve fought over who got to finish the plate, but we chose peace. Folks also loved the cinnamon-rice Mexican chocolate ice cream with the fruity character of high-quality chocolate. The cocktails were complex and well-made with proper chill and dilution. The Spaghetti Western, which can be described as an herbal “Caprese martini”, was the best cocktail I’ve had in a long while. The only misses of the night were the goat tartare and the strawberry layer cake. The goat tartare had a grainy waxy texture reminiscent of cold and solidifying beef tallow, though everything else was on point. The strawberry layer cake tasted good but it didn’t reach the same highs as other dishes. Concentrate the strawberry flavor and boost the tartness. The service staff had such a knack for describing drinks and dishes in such an appetizing way, they might’ve been able to sell me a random pen picked up from the street—and convince me to eat it. It’s such a breath of fresh air! Most fine dining servers default to reciting a list of ingredients as they drop off the food. This went so far beyond that. The menu items came alive with such vivid descriptions. I personally would rank Olamaie among the upper half of the NYC one stars. I want to dine at Olamaie every time I visit Austin.

Loved our experience here. The food is all very rich - or at least everything we had was. Perfect for an indulgent night out. The drinks were to die for. I got the delta dawn and my husband got the soup of the day. We wanted to switch to wine but couldn’t give those up. We had the beef belly and cauliflower starters (not pictured) the cauliflower was one of the best things we had. We had the wagyu steak and splurged on the caviar with our biscuits. Everything was delightful. We love the clear communication about the included gratuity and the note about how It supports and protects their staff. Note: the kitchen staff reciting orders gave a little bit of “The Menu” vibe.

This Michelin-starred gem combines bold creativity with technical mastery to deliver an unforgettable dining experience. Recognized as Austin’s ‘Best Restaurant’ multiple times, Olamaie has earned praise for its innovative approach to traditional Southern flavors. The dishes exemplify thoughtful craftsmanship, with each bite delivering depth and balance. The fried catfish, served with creamy rice and fresh herbs, showcased both comfort and refinement, while the shrimp and grits offered a bright and satisfying twist. Even the smaller plates, such as the oysters, reflected a commitment to quality and flavor. The service matched the culinary excellence. The staff displayed attentiveness and knowledge, enhancing the overall experience. For those seeking a meal that celebrates the best of Southern cuisine, Olamaie remains a must-visit destination.

Great food and service - shout out to the bartenders! So glad we got to experience it on this trip. Perhaps add more comfy bar stools and a little more AC at the bar.
